Excel Services

Falcon XL Solutions provides a wide range of Excel services.  These have been summarised into three areas below along with three examples of how we have added value to our clients.

Data analysis &
reporting

Turning data into management information is key to generating value for your business.  We can help improve the quality and efficiency of your existing reports or design full reporting suites from the ground up.

Process
automation

Every day, data is manually re-keyed or re-analysed resulting in increased processing costs and a greater risk of error.  We can easily automate many of these tasks saving you time and money.

Data cleansing & consolidation

Data tends to degrade over time with missing information and different versions residing in multiple locations.  We can help you clean, reconcile and consolidate your data so that you’re left with a single version of the truth.

Example

For Kier Group Plc, a spreadsheet-based enterprise risk management system was developed.  With the use of macros and other techniques, the quality and consistency of business unit submissions could be controlled and a centralised tool could consolidate and analyse those submissions at a press of a button.

This analysis included the production of high quality reports in Microsoft PowerPoint, again at the press of a button.

Example

A staff member at Kier Group Plc was having to divide up a lengthy monthly ‘flat-file’ invoice into several spreadsheets and email these around the group for approval.  This would take her about ½ a day per month.

It took about an hour to write a routine in Microsoft Excel that reduced the time she spent on this task down to about 15 minutes per month; a reduction of over 90% in the time taken each month.

Example

Ernst & Young had a client who needed to recreate their self-select PEP system when their software provider had gone into liquidation and left a failed IT system.

On this occasion, Microsoft Access skills were used to piece together partial records from various systems and develop a reliable method of providing PEP customer statements.

With the Personal Investors Authority involved it was crucial that we could demonstrate that none of the PEP customers would lose out.
